On Saturday 6thApril over 130 attended our ‘Neptune’s Ball’ at Barnham Broom Hotel to celebrate the 10thanniversary of Star Throwers. The evening was a brilliant success and raised £7744.33, which will help us to continue to help support people affected by cancer completely free of charge.
Star Throwers was founded by Dr Henry Mannings in 2009 in order to support local people during a cancer diagnosis and beyond. Since then we have supported over 2,000 patients and carers with one-to-one information sessions, lymphoedema support, complementary therapy sessions, counselling sessions, group workshops and nutrition talks.
The ball was a brilliant celebration of 10 years of Star Throwers, those attending included patients, carers, volunteers, therapists, fundraisers, corporate supporters and staff. The event was kindly supported by local companies Morgan Price International and H Young Structures Ltd and Hi Span Ltd. The attendees were treated to a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival and then entertained by music from James Summerhill and tricks from ‘Magic Dave’, they could get a printed picture from Stuart Beard Photographer and their face painted by Rose Weaver! After a delicious three course dinner there was a charity auction run by TW Gaze and then dancing until the early hours with the band Time Machine.
General Manager, Steven Ho, said: “10 years ago the charity began thanks to Dr Henry Mannings and in a time when there are so many good causes to support it is incredible that Star Throwers is still here and helping more people with cancer than ever before. On behalf of the charity, we cannot thank enough all the amazing people who have supported the charity over the years.”
